The shop floor turns over three times between September and January, and most households do something similar on a smaller scale. Buying with the whole run in mind rather than one season at a time gets considerably more use out of the same money.
Some things carry over and some genuinely do not.
What carries from autumn into Christmas
Anything in the warm neutral range: maple and oak leaf garlands, wooden pieces, natural textures, warm white lighting. A leaf garland on a mantel in October is still a perfectly good garland in December next to something red.
Candles and lanterns cross every season without comment, which is why they are worth buying well once rather than seasonally.
What does not carry
Anything explicitly themed. Pumpkins, cats and Santa figures are each locked to about six weeks, and no amount of clever placement extends that.
That is not an argument against buying them – a strongly themed piece is often the one children remember – but it is an argument for buying fewer of them and more of the neutral pieces around them.
Stickers and decals are the flexible category
Vinyl sheets are cheap, take no storage space, and can go on windows, doors, laptops and party bags. A sheet bought for Halloween that is half used carries over to a party in February without looking seasonal.
They are also the easiest thing to hand to a child who wants to help decorate, which is worth something on its own.
Buy the base, change the accent
The efficient pattern is a neutral base that stays up – lighting, greenery, lanterns, ribbon in a warm tone – with a small number of themed accents swapped three times a year.
It is less work than a full changeover, it costs less over a year, and rooms decorated this way tend to look more considered than ones that go from bare to fully themed overnight.
Timing the purchases
Each season’s stock arrives on the floor several weeks before people start shopping for it, and the best of it is gone by the week everybody is looking. Buying two or three weeks early is the whole trick.
Delivery adds six to thirteen business days to that, so an order placed in the first week a season appears will arrive comfortably. One placed when you first feel the urge to decorate will not.

What is listed online is a subset of what is in the shop at any moment, particularly during a changeover when new stock is out before it is photographed.
A phone call is the fastest way to find out whether a colour or a line is in. It is also the only way to find out about the things that arrived yesterday.

Ordering, delivery and returns
There is one delivery rate, $5.99, and it is removed at $49. Orders are packed in one to three business days and travel for five to ten, so plan on six to thirteen business days between placing an order and opening the box. Everything ships from Brooklyn, NY, to United States addresses.
